Porches

Sitting on my front porch always feels like vacation. Sitting on a front porch overlooking the trees and adorable furry and winged creatures always feels like the pinnacle of luxury. Yet here at home, I have a perfectly wonderful front porch and do I ever sit on it? Rarely. I take it for granted that it will always be waiting for me, always ready when I am, always be there. And it will. But *I* won't always be here. There will come a time when my porch sitting days will end. I urge you to sit on your front porch. Now. Don't wait. Grab a cup of coffee and a wonderful book, or just sit there with wide open eyes. Let the sun caress your cheek. Drink in the honeysuckle scented air. Listen to the songs of the morning doves and watch a robin tug a worm from the dew speckled earth. Defy God to reveal Himself.

Isaiah 60:1 (NIV)
“Arise, shine, for your light has come,
and the glory of the Lord rises upon you.

  1. I love porches too Vicky, in fact, when Brian's in country we have our first cup of coffee together out there! One time in Charlotte however, BEFORE coffee I sat on a black snake that just happened to be on the outdoor furniture(my brain hadn't registered the fact that we didn't own any black soaker hoses yet)....and then well, I woke the whole house and the neighborhood with my screams!
That snake took forever to slither away but provided breaks for my kids from homeschool all morning!
