Being Involved in God's Work

I often get calls or texts from the women we minister to at the Abortion Mill, helping them to choose life for their unborn child. Sometimes the texts are joyful, thanking us for all we did to help them make the right decision. Sometimes, they are despondent, when times are hard, and they are weary, and feel they cannot do this. I much prefer the first type of texts. Sadly, I do get a good share of the second type.

Yesterday, one of my favorite mamas texted me. She was going through a rough patch. Despite a new job that looked promising, she was struggling financially. She knew that she "deserved" this struggle, as she was not walking with God as she should. I texted quite some time to be sure she was doing all she could to rectify the situation. She was. There was no getting around it. She was out of food and needed help.

One of the most wonderful human beings on earth (Carrie, you know who you are) had sent me a generous check several months ago. She told me to use it for the mamas who chose life, and to use my discretion. I am very careful with that money. I pray that God would always guide me when to use it and when to withhold it. Yesterday, listening to this mama who was losing hope and yet still said she would not harm her unborn child to alleviate her struggles, I decided some of the money needed to go to her for food. I also advised on financial planning, and churches that would help uphold her through this struggle. I hope she follows through on that.

Many people have said they could not go to the sidewalks of the abortion mill and talk to the women there as we counselors for Cities4Life do. However, there are so many ways that they could still help to defeat the evil of abortion. Providing funds, maternity clothes, Bibles, gift cards, etc. for the mamas who choose life can sometimes mean the difference between life and death.

I mailed the check immediately to the mama, making it to the post office before the 5pm pick up. She will have the money tomorrow. Then, I sent her a verse. It was about how all things are possible with God. Sometimes it doesn't feel that way. But it is important to trust God in this. When we follow Him, all things are possible. He will make a way when there seems to be no way. And if we Christians are serious, we should be part of the way.

Matthew 19:26

But Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

For nothing will be impossible with God.”

‘Ah, Lord God! It is you who have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and by your outstretched arm! Nothing is too hard for you.

Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us,

Is anything too hard for the Lord? At the appointed time I will return to you, about this time next year, and Sarah shall have a son.”

But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.

Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. For by it the people of old received their commendation. By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible.

“Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.
