Why We Stand for Life While Others Try to Knock Us Down

This little guy’s mom chose life about a year ago and here is this precious boy back for a visit. This time...outside the womb. His value didn’t change from some months ago when he was in the womb and I first saw his beating heart on the ultrasound on our RV parked on the curb of the abortion center.
The mom tearfully remembered that day when she first met us. She was hopeless. The boyfriend left her when he found out she was pregnant. She had little money, other kids, and was overwhelmed. Still, when she heard our counselors on the microphone urging the women to come and let us help them, she agreed to come on the RV. She and her two friends all heard the Gospel there and all three asked Jesus to be Lord of their lives. When she saw the baby on the ultrasound, she said her own heart “exploded. Marvelous! I could not hold in all the joy.”

We helped this mom as we do all the moms who will let us. Our partner, Truth and Mercy Pro-life Ministry  gave her a baby shower that provided the first full two years of all the baby would need. We found her a church and connected her with people in that church to walk alongside her. I stayed in touch with daily contact, mostly texts of Bible verses to encourage and inspire and strengthen her.

Yesterday, I asked how everything was going.

“It’s great!”she said. “My husband  and I are doing fantastic. He came back and is a big help. The kids are doing well and he is a good father. I love my church and those ladies still stay in touch with me.”

As she remembered the last time she had been on the RV, when she had almost killed her son, she began crying. “I feel so guilty I ever thought of abortion,” she said.
I knelt before her and took her hands. “Everyone is tempted at times to do what is wrong. It is no sin to be tempted. It is sin to know what is wrong and do it anyway. You chose to do what was right. God and the angels are rejoicing with you.”

Three women chose life yesterday while we flooded the sidewalk with children and parents volunteering to speak for the unborn. The pro-choice people, particularly one man, swore with vile language as he tried to shove his signs in front of the window of a mom who had stopped her car and was reaching for my literature.

Two of the women who come to stand and pray on the sidewalk and never say a word came over. “Shame on you,” they said, “Speaking that way before children. Shame on you.”

I don’t think that is all he should be ashamed of.

Despite that, praise God for the lives saved and the joy of seeing one of them smiling in my arms.

Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, who formed you from the womb: “I am the Lord, who made all things, who alone stretched out the heavens, who spread out the earth by myself,
