We Are His Voice: An Abortion That Was Aborted

I am continually amazed by God and how He equips those He has called to complete the tasks He sets before them. Yesterday, a woman and her friend came out of the abortion clinic and told our Cities4Life team that they wanted to go on our HELP Pregnancy Center RV to see the baby on the mobile ultrasound.

“Is it a real ultrasound?”the young mother, Y, asked me.
“Yes,” I said, laughing, “With real nurses who are trained to do the ultrasounds.”
“The people with the umbrellas told us not to go on the RV...that you all did fake ultrasounds.” Y said.

The people with the umbrellas are the “pro-choice” escorts. Y was conflicted and not convinced she wanted to abort. The “pro-choice” people did everything they could to dissuade her from speaking to us.

Does this look like a “fake” ultrasound?

This is not Y’s baby. It is the ultrasound of a baby from two days ago which we did on our RV.  I didn’t take photos of Y’s baby with my camera because I was so busy sharing our resources...our resources which the “pro-choice” folks didn’t want her to hear about. After I told Y all we could do to help her, she said, “Why didn’t anyone tell me about this???”

We did. The “pro-choice” people vigorously try to block this information.

“Why do you all DO this?” Y asked.

That was the perfect segue into sharing the Gospel. We do this because we love God. God’s commands are clear about the sanctity of life. We are ALL called to be a voice for the voiceless. And then we are called to be the Good Samaritan that helps the women who are often in very difficult circumstances.

“The baby has vocal cords at 12 weeks,” I told Y, “And he can cry in the womb...but it is a silent cry. No one hears him. We are his voice.”

She wanted to hear more about this God that we love and follow even to the sidewalks of abortion centers where we are mocked, cursed, ridiculed, and threatened. She wanted to hear more, even though she told me when she got on the RV that she did not believe in God.

We shared the Gospel with Y and her friend. They asked many good questions. Hard questions. The same questions I had asked when I didn’t know God. And in the end, they wanted to submit their lives to Jesus. We prayed with them on the RV, and they proclaimed out loud to God their desire to lay aside their sins, follow Jesus, and lead a new life in Him.

Y left the RV with the “fake” ultrasound pictures, and arms filled with gifts. We had already scheduled call backs from the people who would be helping her. Both women hugged us, and thanked us.

Have you ever felt God prompting you to do something hard but challenged God, saying I could never do that?

Yes. So have I.

I love what Oswald Chambers has to say about that:
"If Jesus ever commanded us to do something that He was unable to equip us to accomplish, He would be a liar. And if we make our own inability a stumbling block or an excuse not to be obedient, it means that we are telling God that there is something which He has not yet taken into account. Every element of our own self-reliance must be put to death by the power of God. The moment we recognize our complete weakness and our dependence upon Him will be the very moment that the Spirit of God will exhibit His power."

I could NEVER share the Gospel....I could NEVER stand on the sidewalk of an abortion center and speak on a microphone telling women abortion will hurt not only their child...but them as well and we could help. NEVER. But God in me CAN.

As Y gathered her gifts and hugged us goodbye, I asked how she felt now.
“Much better,” she said, “But still a little nervous.”
“That’s ok,” I said, “With God, you can do this.”
“You are on an incredible journey,”our nurse Jennifer told Y.
“I cannot wait to see how I will progress in God,” Y said.
Neither can I!

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

  1. All praise and honor to God! And a BIG thankyou to those who listen when He calls. Awesome! Awesome! I only people would engage their brains, so they could get all of the info, and their hearts, to make the right choice when they have all of the information.

  2. If businesses cannot falsely accuse other businesses (like McDs accusing Burger King of using horse meat), why can't you sure them for these false statements?
