A Force Not to be Trifled With

Fall is in the air. The sky is not the summer uninterrupted robin egg blue. There are layers of big puffy clouds. Our birch tree, which is always the first to drop its leaves, is already littering our sidewalk and porch. I went out to sweep the walkway, and a locust attacked. I don't know if I had swept over its resting place or what, but it would not leave me alone. I continued sweeping since as far as I know, locusts cannot hurt people, but it was relentless. It buffeted against me over and over, trying to drive me away from my work. Soon I was swatting at it with the broom, and running, then returning to my work, only to have it attack again. For such a tiny creature, it was terribly disruptive, and frankly, a little freaky.

Carolina Locusts are among the least destructive of all locusts, but can still decimate crops if enough of them gather. Interestingly, the Bible tells us that in the End Times, locusts will overswarm the earth, but will not harm plants! God will send them instead to torment all those who do not belong to Christ.

Non-believers, take heed.

If God's incredible love in sending His one and only Son to pay the penalty of the punishment we deserved is not enough for you, perhaps you would heed the warning of the locust.
One relentless locust almost felled me. You do not want to encounter the swarms of locusts the Bible warns of, who will sting like scorpions. Even creepier, they will have human faces. Those who encounter them will want to die, but won't. I am telling you, one locust without either  a stinger or a human face had me running for cover. Do not mock God. Get right with Him while there is yet time.

I finished my sweeping and took refuge in my house, grateful God is tarrying with those scorpion locusts. He will not tarry forever. Don't say you weren't warned.

Revelation 9:3-10

Then from the smoke came locusts on the earth, and they were given power like the power of scorpions of the earth. They were told not to harm the grass of the earth or any green plant or any tree, but only those people who do not have the seal of God on their foreheads. They were allowed to torment them for five months, but not to kill them, and their torment was like the torment of a scorpion when it stings someone. And in those days people will seek death and will not find it. They will long to die, but death will flee from them. In appearance the locusts were like horses prepared for battle: on their heads were what looked like crowns of gold; their faces were like human faces,
