"There is no spot in thee."
Song of Solomon 4:7
That is an awesome saying. This is what happens when we are washed clean in God's merciful forgiveness. Not a single spot remains. Hard to believe as we look around at ourselves and our fellow humans, isn't it? There are not only spots but huge blotches of ugliness and sin. So how can it be that God looks at us and we are "white as snow" ?
I was working on a computer drawing and the first thing I did was size the 'canvas'. As I was doing that, I got a brown spot somehow in the middle of the screen on my clean 'canvas.' I kept trying to remove it but couldn't. Normally I can just hit undo, but for some reason that wasn't working. Finally, despite all the trouble I'd gone to to set the dimensions, I just deleted the project. Then I started fresh with a pristine clean 'canvas.'
God doesn't do that. He doesn't just blot us out, or delete us...He cleans us. He redeems us. When we accept Jesus as Lord, and accept His sacrifice on the cross on our behalf, the Bible says we are born again, washed clean, regenerated and renewed, purified, without blemish, without condemnation. And the list goes on. There is no spot in us, through His merciful grace.
I rejoice in this, and I believe that this is true, but frankly, I don't understand it. Because I see a lot of spots, in me and in those around me. I think God must see through the lens of eternity, a vision that is limited for me. Thank goodness I am not God, because if I were Him, I'd probably just hit delete. It's what we deserve. Praise God it is not what we get.
