What Fills the Empty Places

The rain keeps falling. When the rain is falling, the low spot in our yard fills up, and a little lake is formed. When there is a break in the rain, the lake drains. Since there is nothing but air in the hollow spot, as soon as it rains, it refills.

Our well of God's peace is very similar. If we fill our hearts and our minds with God, there is no room for anything else. If we don't, Satan will fill them, and peace will not likely be the result.

One of my favorite passages is Philippians 4: 8-9
Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.

I suppose if I had a guiding principle to what I do, see, say, and dwell upon, this would be it. If we cannot attach these adjectives to the things we do, say, watch, hear, or engage our time upon...we cannot expect the peace of God.

Meanwhile, for those of you eagerly following the saga of my horse series, Joe- The Horse Nobody Loved is still free until Oct. 7, and just by my word out to Facebook groups, rose quickly to the #1 book in horses. My hope was the readers of Joe would be so enthralled that they will part with their $2.99 to buy the sequel, Gidget-The Horse Formerly Known as Witch. It remains to be seen if that will happen.

I could fret, despair, worry, and pace. But that is not on the Philippians 4 list. So I won't. I will praise God for all I have been given. I will draw happy pictures of horses. I choose to keep my mind stayed on Him, that it might be filled with wonder and joy.

Philippians 4:8

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.
