Yes, Lord.

The rain here is torrential. I got a phone alert at 2 a.m., (thanks so much, National Weather Service) that our area was under flash flood warning. This morning I read that trees are down due to the waterlogged ground. Our trees still are standing, but our firepit is under water in the middle of our yard.

A great day to sit inside and read a book!

AND GUESS WHAT??? Joe- The Horse Nobody Loved is free from Oct. 3-7, in celebration of the publishing of my new book, Gidget- The Horse Formerly Known as Witch. This is the chance for you all to send free gifts to everyone you know! Gidget is slowly galloping through the ranks. She was #7 this morning. I am hoping that the people who read Joe will quickly download Gidget, and she will hit #1.

Frankly, there has been a lot of struggle in my life lately, and I am eager to fill my hands with good. And incidentally, while you are at it, after downloading these inspiring books, sign up for my mail updates. At the upper right of the blog page is a place to click for email updates. I will send info on new book releases or any promotional specials. And book #3, Gidget- The Horse I Didn't Own, is due out in a month or two. I'm praying this series will take off, and I can retire from my day job. Oh...this is my day job...but still, I am ready for good things!

After all, as Job said, "Should we not accept bad at the hands of God as well as good?"

But, here's the rub. In good times and in bad, we are to praise God. This is contrary to the advice of Job's charming wife, who after God allowed Satan to destroy Job's health, his children, and his livelihood said: “Are you still maintaining your integrity? Curse God and die!”

What did Job do? Honestly, I think most of us would at least have a moment of anger at God if we were Job. However the Bible tells us, "In all this, Job did not sin in what he said."

I thought of the young people mowed down by the crazy gunman in Oregon. They were asked if they were Christians, and if they answered, "Yes," they were murdered. A refrain kept echoing in my head:

Knowing what would happen, they said Yes

Matthew 5:37

But let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No.’ For whatever is more than these is from the evil one.

Romans 14:8

If we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord.
