Compassion on the Child of her Womb

One of the mamas, C,  I counseled to choose life some time ago and to whom I send daily Bible texts, sent me this photo yesterday. She had been a Mom I had to counsel for quite a while before she was convinced her baby was worth saving. Her mother tells me that now C is so excited, especially upon seeing the very clear image of her baby. All doubt of 'humanity' within her womb was gone.

And just in case there was a remote chance of missing the fact that a little human of inestimable worth resided temporarily within her, the little baby raised her arm and waved. C's heart melted in love for the child she had considered aborting. She cried out, "It's so amazing!"

It is. The miracle of human life, created in the image of God, is amazing. What a blessing that women have the privilege of carrying within them that sacred form as the baby grows and develops. The bond of mother and child is one of the deepest and most precious bonds on earth, one that every mother knows is never broken. The child, like that precious baby in the womb waving hello, may one day wave goodbye instead, but may it never be by the brutal act of abortion.

My heart, like all mothers' hearts who love their child, is always scanning the horizon where those precious fingertips finally dip out of sight. We never forget them and a piece of us always goes with them.

Isaiah 49:15

“Can a woman forget her nursing child, that she should have no compassion on the son of her womb? Even these may forget, yet I will not forget you.
