My art class with the nursing home residents is next Friday. I have been teaching them to use pastels. Last month, we did an iris. I did not practice before I taught them, thinking it would be super easy. I was wrong. They were frustrated and we didn't have time to finish our drawing. When you are 90 years old or so, you don't deserve frustration, or unfinished projects. So this time, I came up with a very easy project, and did my own pastel ahead of time. Ta-da! Here it is-- the picture accompanying this blog. I had so much fun that I worked on it quite a while. My students may not achieve quite this effect in our one hour class, but they will get close.
I had so much fun, creating this pretty sunset. Do you think God had the time of His life creating the universe in all its splendor? I can almost picture Him in a smock and artist beret, splashing colors as He invents them in wild profusion. Then, did He step back, as I did, and smile with the wonder of making something beautiful where before there had been nothing?

He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, he has put
eternity into man's heart, yet so that he cannot find out what God has
done from the beginning to the end.
