Forecasting the Future

The weather man had said ZERO chance of rain.  I think the picture above indicates how accurate his forecast was. Hint: He was wrong. I went kayaking for the first time in a week. The clouds were ominous, but I launched hopefully anyway. Shortly after taking the video below, the heavens opened up in a deluge. My boat had an inch of water in it within minutes from the downpour, and I was bone cold from the surprisingly cold rain. The good news was I had not quite trusted the forecast and was close to the dock instead of a half hour away.

Our sermon Sunday was about forecasting the future. It was graduation Sunday, and the pastor was speaking to the graduates on one level, but mostly to all of us on another. As my experience kayaking proved, he spoke of how we can not forecast the future when we cannot even forecast the next hour's weather with certainty.

But there is a future we can be 100% sure of. If we trust Jesus as our Lord and Savior, when the day of Judgment comes, as foretold in Revelation, our names will be written in the book of Life and our eternal life in Heaven is secure. If we do not, our names will still be in a book. They will be written in the book that outlines what each of us did while on earth, and we will be judged by that alone. I don't know about you, but I would not deserve heaven if it was based on my behavior here. Would you?

I beg you. Let Jesus enter your life. When we accept the forgiveness which He died to secure for us, our sins are seen no more, and our names are entered into the book of Life. You will not regret it. I promise. Better yet, God promises.

I had forecast the weather inaccurately, and I got soaked. Way less severe punishment than what awaits those who misread the eternal forecast.

Judgment Before the Great White Throne

Reveliation 20: 11-15 Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. From his presence earth and sky fled away, and no place was found for them. 12 And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done. 13 And the sea gave up the dead who were in it, Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them, and they were judged, each one of them, according to what they had done. 14 Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. 15 And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.
