Lifting My Eyes Unto Heaven

I lift my eyes unto the hills,
Where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of Heaven and Earth.
Psalm121: 1-2

These are some of my favorite verses in the Bible. They remind me to do something I do not naturally do. There is always something terrible going on in the world. Even my little corner of the world is filled with enough misery to make anyone want to throw in the towel. I let my eyes drift downward, and there goes my hope and my mood as well.
But then....

Psalm 121 comes along...and reminds me to lift my eyes.

And if I do, do you know what God promises?
He will not let your foot slip.
He who watches over you will not slumber.(v.3)

This is astonishing. When we walk, especially if it is a rocky path, littered with obstacles and dangers, where do we naturally want to focus? On our feet! On the path! If we don't, won't we stumble over all the dangers scattered along our way?
At least in a spritual sense, that is NOT what God wants us to do. We are to lift our eyes to Him. We are to trust that He will guard our way, and He will not let us stumble. This is definitely counter-intuitive.

I have been enduring a troubling struggle as an author. I keep being put in Facebook jail for sharing the news of my book release. So I gave up trying to post the book. Instead, I went to my horse groups to share my background, and hear about their stories. I was boggled by the richness of their tales, and how each one I could turn into a novel! Amazing stories with the common theme of doing anything at a very young age to be around the horses they loved. Lo and behold, they asked me about my book and I was able to share without breaking Facebook rules. Check out the photo below. Look whose book is #1 this morning!

I still don't know how to go about promoting my books, but this gift from God reminds me that He has me in His sights. Keep Him in mine.

Psalm 121
I lift up my eyes to the hills.
    From where does my help come?
My help comes from the Lord,
    who made heaven and earth.

He will not let your foot be moved;
    he who keeps you will not slumber.
Behold, he who keeps Israel
    will neither slumber nor sleep.
The Lord is your keeper;
    the Lord is your shade on your right hand.
The sun shall not strike you by day,
    nor the moon by night.
The Lord will keep you from all evil;
    he will keep your life.
The Lord will keep
    your going out and your coming in
    from this time forth and forevermore.
