Make the Ugly Beautiful

My strategy for home improvement: Find the ugliest room and start there. Make it gorgeous. Then move on to the next ugliest room. Stop when we run out of money. There will be more ugly than money, unfortunately.

This is true in a spiritual realm too. Look at the worst part of myself, and try to improve it. Then move on to the next worst part. I will die before I hit all the terrible parts.

The wonderful blessing is Jesus' blood covers all those terrible, ugly parts. When God looks at me as I stand before Him on Judgment Day, He doesn't see my ugly. He sees Jesus' sacrificial atoning blood instead. I will appear white as snow.

I am more grateful for this truth every day, because the older I get, the more I seem to be aware of how ugly sin really is to our Holy God.

1 John 1:9

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

2 Corinthians 5:21

For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

1 John 1:7

But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.
