God Remains Sovereign; This is My Hope

Did anyone else wake up, turn on the faucet, and feel a touch of surprise and gratitude that water was still flowing normally? I can't say I am delighted with our new president, but I am more delighted than I would have been with the alternative.

The pivotal issue for me is abortion. It is gratifying to me that the presidential choice who has promised pro-life judge appointees was elected with a strong pro-life vice president. Other victories for the pro-life movement also emerged last night. Mark Kirk, the only Republican senator to vote against defunding Planned Parenthood, was defeated. Pro-life senators Mark Rubio, Todd Young, Richard Burr, and many others were elected as well.

Still, it is with a bit of shock I soak in the news that Donald Trump is our next president. I must admit I'm enjoying the NY Times trying to make sense of it all.  An article by Matt Flegenheimer this morning said:
"To the surprise of many on the left, white voters who had helped elect the nation’s first black president, appeared more reluctant to line up behind a white woman."

Yes. That's it. The reluctance to vote for Hillary was because she was a woman. Not because of the corruption and scandal of the private email servers, the Benghazi soldiers killed through her bungling and inept, at best, role as Secretary of State,  the defamation and destruction of women who (rightly) accused Bill Clinton of sexual misconduct, the shady land deals during her Rose Law firm days, and the 'pay to play' scandal involving the Clinton Foundation still under investigation. Oh, and her celebration of Planned Parenthood and her desire to protect Partial Birth Abortion, perhaps one of the most brutal acts against innocent children in all of history. Or her liberal policies that have led to the debacle of Obamacare, and the struggling economy. None of that influenced white voters.

So no, I am not delighted with President Trump but I am so glad the Clintons are out of the political arena...and the water did run when I turned on the faucet today. God is still on His throne, and His will is still sovereign. No nation stands or falls without His permission. Every breath I take is ordained by Him. To God be the glory.

1 Chronicles 29:11-12

Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and you are exalted as head above all. Both riches and honor come from you, and you rule over all. In your hand are power and might, and in your hand it is to make great and to give strength to all.

  2. I am delighted. One morning about a month ago, the HS spoke to me as I prayed, God has ALWAYS used flawed people to achieve His plans (like you and me) And then He said, Do you trust me? Peace in my heart. I continue to pray for America, and I continue to trust God.

    1. I trust God will use Trump for His good purpose. I pray Trump encounters God in a real and transformative way.
