With God as Our Guide, Let Us Spread Joy

The picture above is when L first sees the stylist chair that a whole caboodle of Cities4Life supporters joined forces to get for her. I was the lucky one who got to lead her out the door and show it to her. For those of you who don't follow my blog, L is a mama who chose life over abortion, and Cities4Life has helped her since she made that choice almost three years ago. Now entering her own apartment for the first time, Cities4Life network is furnishing the empty abode. The stylist chair is the icing on the cake, a dream to help her pursue her own stylist business.

One of our supporters, Melanie, donated the funds for the chair, then Courtney, the Cities4Life director's wife, drove an hour away to get it for us. My husband and I drove to Courtney's home yesterday, where her son and my hubby carried it to our van.

Then, we drove on to L's apartment. I knocked on the door, and led her down the steps to her new chair. She was ecstatic.

Hubby carried it into her living room. We hugged L and left, knowing that soon after our departure, a whole new crew of wonderful Christians were showing up with yet more largess for this brave young lady.

They brought couches, beds, futons, lamps, and even left a hidden envelope of money. More is yet to come when Kelly from the group returns next week.

Before we left to deliver the chair, my husband called me into the backyard. He said an owl was sitting in the tree, right above him in the corner of the yard, and didn't fly away. We hurried back to the corner of the yard together.
"Do you think it's injured?" I asked as we gazed at the huge owl.
"I don't know."
It was right above us. It swiveled its head and blinked at us. We were only about five feet beneath it.

I spoke to it, and it didn't seem the slightest bit perturbed, though it watched me. When I snapped a few pictures, the click of my shutter startled it. With graceful sweeps of its wings, it flew away.

"What a blessing," I said. I have never seen a wild owl that close! Such a thrill!

A day of blessings, of God opening the window to His grace and mercy, letting the fresh scent of His Kingdom for a time wash over the toils and troubles of the world.

L's child is two years old. We have been following her, and helping her for almost three years now. Do not believe the lies of the pro-choice crowd that the pro-life movement only wants to save babies and then leave them to a miserable fate. We do indeed want to save babies, but we want to change the culture that makes abortion feel like the only option. Frankly, we want to change their whole world for Christ. We do that by helping each woman we can, for as long as we can, with God as our guide. My prayer for each one of those babies and mamas is that their joy follows in His wake.

L still needs end tables, curtains (52" wide, and 96" wide, 5-6 feet long for two bedroom windows), and a Television and TV table. If you have donations, please contact me at vickychooseslife@yahoo.com

2 Corinthians 9:8

And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.
