Fragrant Offering

I have spent a couple of weeks of non-stop work editing my latest book, The Tower Builder (in case you have missed my ten thousand updates on the link to purchase the book, here it is: click here). Now the marketing begins, which is another mountain to climb, but first, it was a glorious day, so I hurried to the river with my kayak. There is one nasty section of the river that is right next to a water treatment plant. When it is a hot day, the stench from that section is overwhelming. I usually go to the far bank while traversing that portion of the river. But yesterday was not quite yet hot enough to rile the Malodorous Gods. In fact, because the honeysuckle and other flowering plants are in bloom, the air along the shore was perfumed. I like to go along that shore because it has interesting little caves carved in the bank. I keep hoping I will see a bear or some exotic wildlife. Instead, all I saw were three fisherman.

But I thought about something other than my book for the time I was on the river, and that was nice. I thought of how I had made a Facebook plea to my friends. One of my "saves" from the abortion clinic will be lavished with a baby shower through the Cities4Life abortion mill sidewalk counseling group. Since there have been a lot of "saves" lately, funds and supplies are running low. I asked my friends if anyone would like to make a contribution to the shower, and listed the supplies we needed. Three friends replied instantly with offers of gift cards and handknit baby booties. Their kindness and compassion smelled sweeter than the honeysuckle along the river bank.
