Expressive Tokens of Love

A sweet young man, Ian, found an art program on-line and sent me the link, thinking I would enjoy it. The simple gesture of kindness made my day glow a little more warmly. I quickly played with the program for a moment, producing the fun little drawing above. It was like magic. Similarly, little gestures of kindness often are as well.

Charles Spurgeon said: I beseech you therefore, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service." Let not your zeal evaporate in some little ebullition of song. Show your love in expressive tokens. Love the brethren of him who loved you. If there be a Mephibosheth anywhere who is lame or halt, help him for Jonathan's sake. If there be a poor tried believer, weep with him, and bear his cross for the sake of him who wept for thee and carried thy sins. Since thou art thus forgiven freely for Christ's sake, go and tell to others the joyful news of pardoning mercy. Be not contented with this unspeakable blessing for thyself alone, but publish abroad the story of the cross.

Show your love in expressive tokens. I like that. That is what a kind, young man did for me yesterday and it brightened my world.

Romans 5:8

But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

We love because he first loved us.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.
