The Only Genuine Comfort

Cool. The Charlotte Cities4Life video of me enthusing about a mama who had just chosen life at the abortion center has had over a thousand views on Facebook! If only my book promos would do so well....

But I think it shows there is a hunger out there for positive news in the wake of the terribly horrific Planned Parenthood videos. So while I think perhaps my exuberance seems exaggerated, it is exactly how I felt after counseling the sweet mama who chose life for her baby despite difficult circumstances. Joy bubbling to the surface and exploding in blessings.

The mom texted me throughout the day, asking if she could continue to contact me for support and encouragement. Was she kidding!? Of course! I feel most alive when I know that I am centered in the will of God, and I never feel it more keenly than when I am on the sidewalks of the abortion mill calling out words of healing, comfort, and truth that God Himself provides to these overwhelmed, reluctant mothers.

Life is so fraught with struggle, evil, despair, and tormenting news and events. No one can escape it. But in the midst of all that, we can find peace and joy by abiding in God and walking the path He has laid before us. I guarantee, being in the will of God is the only place of genuine comfort on Earth.

2 Corinthians 1:3-4

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

Seeing the crowds, he went up on the mountain, and when he sat down, his disciples came to him. And he opened his mouth and taught them, saying: “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth. ...

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
