When All We Have Is Prayer...

I see approximately two movies a decade. When War Room came out, I decided I wanted to see it. For one thing, a bunch of people I know are extras in it. Also, it was filmed in Charlotte, and it was low budget and shocked everyone when it released and went to the #1 Box Office hit! I love underdogs, especially Christian underdogs.

So in lieu of a Labor Day picnic, Hubster and I went to see War Room. I had no idea what it was about, but knew it had a strong Christian message. I loved it. I am sure that people will rip apart some of the amateurish moments, but the message was powerful, simple, and true. Our enemy is not each other, though we often are confused and think that is who we should be fighting. Our enemy is the Prince of Darkness, Father of Lies, and the Deceiver. We fight the wrong battle with the wrong weapons.

For me, the pivotal moment in the movie was when the female lead shrieks at Satan to leave her home, go back to Hell where he came from, and, btw, in case he doesn't know, he already lost the battle. I have done that myself, screamed out loud at Satan to leave because my Lord is Jesus Christ, and He is the victor.

When I opened my Bible this morning, it fell to Zechariah 1:3 -- Therefore tell the people: This is what the LORD Almighty says: 'Return to me,' declares the LORD Almighty, 'and I will return to you,' says the LORD Almighty.

So much calamity on earth and especially in relationships is due to our own selfishness, and sinfulness. We have deserted God, His plans, and His principles, and then wonder why our world is collapsing. He made that world...yet how often do we even awaken with gratitude for that incomparable gift?

If you haven't seen the movie, I highly recommend it. It will remind you that when all we have is prayer, that is not the last resort, but really the only one. It is by far the best weapon for the real war we face.

John 15:7

If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.

Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.

Pray without ceasing,

My friend isn't saved, doesn't believe in prayer...and I was a little distracted over how the movie was being received...Wonderful movie. Bittersweet to watch. Can't help but wonder how my marriage might have turned outfit had a barroom and a friend who cared enough to share their wisdom and and and...God is good and happens for a reason.
