We arrived just in time to unpack and then sit on the porch sipping wine as a thunderstorm rolled in. Our condo porch overlooks a lagoon bordered by live oak and magnolia trees, dripping with spanish moss. I know. You should hate me. I am blessed indeed.
In the morning, I plan to go kayak on the intercoastal waterway with the dolphins. If I am lucky, one will surface right next to me. In past years, they have done so every morning. I go early all by myself, before the boats and crazy people scare them away. We commune until I try to get a photo and then they disappear as silently as they emerged. Nonetheless, I will try to take a picture for you. Otherwise, you may not hear from me for a week. I intend to relax and soak in the bounty of God's glorious creation.
We all need renewal, replenishment, repose. Hilton Head is one of my favorite places to recharge dead spiritual and emotional batteries. I am a frenetic person, typical type A personality. But I can sit on this porch for hours and not move. I look out over the lagoon, and watch the spanish moss wave in the breeze, without moving a muscle. There is no deep spiritual lesson here. Just gratitude, and appreciation for the beauty God has bestowed upon our world just for me.
Thank you Abba, Father!
