Feeling the need to have time alone with God, I drove directly to the river. My kayak is always in the car, ready for action. All I need is in the kayak. It literally takes me two minutes from the moment I pull into the marina parking lot to the moment my kayak and I are skimming across the river. I thought about that as I heaved a sigh of contentment when my beloved kayak and I hit the water. I am always prepared to kayak. I have a swimsuit and water shoes in the car, and the kayak is already loaded with my life jacket, emergency supplies, paddle, and duck call. I also have a Kazoobie Boat Horn, to alert any ships that may be bearing down at top speed upon me without noticing me. I have salt to sprinkle on any leeches that may attach should I pop into the river to cool off, and benedryl should I disturb a low-hanging wasp nest. I have emergency food, and emergency warm clothes. I have a waterproof bag for my phone, a super absorbent towel, and emergency toilet paper. I am fully ready for any eventuality.
Am I as prepared for Christ's return?
He told us He is coming again. When He does, time is up for the unbelievers. Have I alerted as many as I can as often as I can? Am I as prepared through prayer and study to speak the word of life in all circumstances as I am to kayak whenever I pass a body of water? All of us will be called to give an accounting of all the good and bad we did while waiting for Him. Am I busy doing good, tilling His soil, harvesting His fields?
Gulp.
I hate to admit this, but I suspect I am more prepared to kayak at any moment than to meet my maker.
How about you?
