Making Something Beautiful

I wasn't sure I would feel up to teaching my children's art class yesterday, only a day following my rather arduous biopsies. However, I am really glad I decided to do so.  They all entered so perky, joyful, excited, and eager to draw. It did my soul good.

As the daffodil slowly progressed over the two-hour class, so did the comments:

This doesn't look at all like a flower.
It looks like a robot angel.
Hmmmm. This is fun.
Hey...it is starting to look like a daffodil...
Wow. It is pretty amazing that a blank piece of paper became this beautiful flower.

"Yes," I said in response to the last comment, "Of all the gifts God could have given me, I am so grateful He gave me the ability to draw. It is amazing to turn a blank piece of paper into something beautiful, isn't it?"

And that is what we should be doing with our character...with our lives. Take the blank canvas of our soul and make it beautiful before God.

Here is a picture of the beautiful daffodils my little class created.

I was tired afterwards...but my day was brightened by those happy children and their happy flowers.
