"What changed your mind?" I asked.
"When I was on the porch of the abortion place, my friend who drove me there was telling me before I did it, just talk to the lady on the microphone. I heard you say that no matter how difficult our situations are, our circumstances don't change the humanity of the baby. The baby is not a mistake. God doesn't make mistakes."
You never know what might change someone's mind. In this case, the driver of the young lady was fighting for that baby. He begged her to listen to someone making the case for the baby's humanity and right to life. She really was in hard circumstances, and the words spoke to her in a very personal way. She will need support, and mentoring, and friends. But if God is with her, who can be against her? God prepared her heart, her friend, the message, and the messenger.
I drove 45 minutes to meet her for lunch yesterday. I never go to that section of town, and am not familiar with it. After lunch, the mama left to return to work with the bag of donated maternity clothes. I went exploring. Just across the parking lot, I chanced upon this gorgeous man-made lake pictured above. It has a boardwalk all the way around it. For an hour, I looped the lake a couple of times, and watched the sun sparkling on the water as swans floated gracefully by.
When I got home a got a call from my dad. My mom was in the hospital and had emergency surgery last night. I asked for prayer on my Facebook page and got an outpouring of friends telling me they were praying. Mom is no spring chicken, but she came through the surgery well. I am hoping to find a way to get to NY to tag-team my sister and brother out there now helping. I can't tell you how much those prayers mean to me and to all of us.
If God is with us, who can be against us?
