Worth More than Many Sparrows

I woke up early to find my poor ailing little dog shivering on the bathroom floor. I am not sure why she chose that place to collapse, but she couldn't get up. I carried her to the carpet a few feet in front of her and covered her with a blanket. Then I got her medicines, special yummy turkey and fed her. She eagerly ate the turkey, and after the meds kicked in, came out to join me in the living room. She had seemed better yesterday, but this morning I am not so sure. Many people have told me it takes weeks for dizzy dog syndrome to clear up. I am praying she won't have to struggle with it very much longer.

I have been hanging out with her each day, and writing. I wrote ten thousand words yesterday! I am 2/3rds of the way done with my next book. I just hired a new editor and have high hopes for this book. It is the story I have wanted to write since I was 9 years old. As I am working on it, one of the most startling revelations is how protected I was during that time in my life. I should have died a thousand times, but I didn't. I never even was badly hurt, despite some very dangerous situations.

The Bible talks about one of the smallest most insignificant birds, a sparrow, being watched by God. Not one of them falls to the ground without His knowledge we are told. Nothing, no matter how seemingly insignificant, is outside God's purview and provision and care.

His eye is on the sparrow; surely He watches over me. And my dog.

Luke 12:4-7

“I tell you, my friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body and after that can do no more. But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear him who, after your body has been killed, has authority to throw you into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him. Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God. Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.
