The book that has percolated in my soul for 50 years is pouring out of me. It is the true story of a horse I knew, and loved, in my long-gone childhood. I wrote almost 5,000 words yesterday. It is as though the horse has come back to life. All of us have those stories. Some pivotal event in our childhood that shaped us irrevocably. Joe the horse was one of those experiences for me.
When I left Chicago, and the farm where Joe lived, my family moved to NY. I painted Joe the horse on our basement wall. It is still there, a testament to the horse I loved. As I am writing the story now, I am feeling the icy winters of Chicago, sniffing the pungent smells of the farm, stroking the soft muzzle of the horse I loved.
I didn't know God personally then, but I still knew He was real. I prayed to my unknown God every night. I asked the God I
knew was out there to bless my family, and
everyone. I hated to think that there was someone important that I was forgetting so I was an all-inclusive prayer. I closed my prayers every night, with the words, "Amen, To angels and all." I didn't want God's blessings to miss anyone. I still don't.
Funny, as I am remembering the heart and thoughts of a 9 year old girl...me...I feel so many of the same desires. I still hate cruelty. I still love horses. I still want God's blessings to cover everyone, even those I forget to name. Amen, to angels...and all.

For as I passed along and observed the objects of your worship, I
found also an altar with this inscription, ‘To the unknown god.’ What
therefore you worship as unknown, this I proclaim to you.
And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name
under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”
Beloved, although I was very eager to write to you about our common
salvation, I found it necessary to write appealing to you to contend
for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints.
Now when they had passed through Amphipolis and Apollonia, they
came to Thessalonica, where there was a synagogue of the Jews. And Paul
went in, as was his custom, and on three Sabbath days he reasoned with
them from the Scriptures, explaining and proving that it was necessary
for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead, and saying, “This
Jesus, whom I proclaim to you, is the Christ.” And some of them were
persuaded and joined Paul and Silas, as did a great many of the devout
Greeks and not a few of the leading women. But the Jews were jealous,
and taking some wicked men of the rabble, they formed a mob, set the
city in an uproar, and attacked the house of Jason, seeking to bring
them out to the crowd. ...
And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in
the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will
receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
I would like to read this book.
