Be Still

There is always a bit of sadness and let down when an amazing adventure comes to an end. That's how I feel now, after the once-in-a-lifetime adventure of a book signing at a major convention in Las Vegas. It is the same gut-wrenching feeling we all experience when vacation ends, the car is packed, and we have to drive back to all the worries and cares of real life. It is never easy to return to reality.

And then look: in my Bible reading today was my favorite verse:

Psalm 46:10
He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”

It is hard for me to be still, really still. Almost impossible, actually. Just ask my sister Amy, who spent a week with me at my book signing in Vegas. I probably have Attention Deficit Disorder, but I was in school before that was a popular diagnosis so I was never officially labeled. In our stillness (which happens to me NEVER) we are to KNOW that God is God. That's all. If we can know that, it is all we need. We are all so frantic, always on the verge of desperation, but God tells us: Be still. Know Him.

It is just what I needed to hear.
