Overcoming Despair

It's an active week for me as a writer. My new book, Joe-The Horse Nobody Loved came out yesterday ( http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00VIM9Y2O ) It is currently #9 in its category on Amazon and the TOP New Release in Horse books!!!! The horse nobody loved appears to be getting some LOVE!

Yesterday, Poppy- The Dirty Ditch Digging Dingo, a fairly new book went on a free promo (by accident,) but I am glad it did. It rose precipitously in the rankings to #2 this morning. I have high hopes it will be #1 today. Maybe the Poppy book will spur readers to buy my new Joe book. (PS- Poppy: The Dirty Ditch Digging Dingo is available here: (still free) click on name at top of this paragraph or go to http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00RQOTZGS) If I could get two books in the #1 slot of their category, I may just have to retire from writing. I doubt I will top a day like that!

Coincidentally, when my Poppy book went on sale, the real Poppy on whom the book was based, dug out of her fence and disappeared. As my book humorously details, this is not unusual for Poppy. However, this time  she was gone a full day and night and her owner was beside herself with despair. Many people love Poppy and her owner Carrie. Many were praying. It was with great relief that Poppy returned home later yesterday, sore and exhausted, but safe. What looked like the worst day of Carrie's life turned around to be the best.

On this day, Good Friday, I see so many examples of terrible things that in the twinkling of an eye could flip and be our greatest victory. I see it every day that I minister on the sidewalks of the abortion mill. A woman who is on the brink of total defiance to God and killing her own child, suddenly turns, weeping, chooses life, and clutches the Bible we give her.

We all know that when Jesus was crucified, Satan was crowing, gloating over his apparent victory. But we know what happened three days later. Jesus rose from the grave, and the blackest of days became the day all mankind could be saved. Never despair in the darkness. God has a history of changing things in the twinkling of an eye.

PS- that is one message in my new Joe book as well.

John 16:33

I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”

Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him. Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God,” for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempts no one. But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire.

With God we shall do valiantly; it is he who will tread down our foes.

No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

“When you go out to war against your enemies, and see horses and chariots and an army larger than your own, you shall not be afraid of them, for the Lord your God is with you, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt. And when you draw near to the battle, the priest shall come forward and speak to the people and shall say to them, ‘Hear, O Israel, today you are drawing near for battle against your enemies: let not your heart faint. Do not fear or panic or be in dread of them, for the Lord your God is he who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies, to give you the victory.’

And he said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the thirsty I will give from the spring of the water of life without payment. The one who conquers will have this heritage, and I will be his God and he will be my son.
