When Blessings Fall Like Raindrops

Those are ducks paddling about on what used to be a dry lawn at the abortion center. They are swimming in a puddle. It was a downpour all morning yesterday as our Cities4Life team stood dripping on the sidewalk pleading with the women to choose life. We were all soaked and chilled by the unceasing cold shower, but here's the good news: five women chose life for their babies!!!

One story was particularly heartening. A young man stopped his car for Chrissy, the Cities4Life Counselor in the photo above. He took our literature and asked us to try to stop his girlfriend who would be coming in a different car, which he described. We all kept a look-out. The car drove into the abortion center, and Chrissy and I gave our all, calling to the woman, encouraging her to come on our RV ultrasound, and letting God help her in choosing life. The woman went in the abortion center anyway.

"Get on the mic!!" I said to Chrissy.
She immediately went to our sound system and pleaded with the woman.

Chrissy pleading on mic. Wonderful Sarah in long skirt who we have to thank for bringing the tent!

To our complete delight, the woman and her boyfriend emerged from the abortion center and stopped their cars on the way out to thank us, and tell us they chose life. One could ALMOST forget how cold and wet we were.
Except the nearby ducks kept reminding us.... A mama and papa duck swam cheerfully in the downpour, in their new little lake. In place of the dry ditch, the deluge afforded them new rivers to explore. Ducks do not normally hang out on the dry fields of the abortion center. Water rolled off their backs. I thought of the Bible verse from Isaiah: For I will pour water on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground; I will pour my Spirit upon your offspring, and my blessing on your descendants.(Isaiah 44:3)

What a perfect message on this rainy day in the dry, God-forsaken yard of the southeast's busiest abortion center!

And the ducks were not the only fowl sending us messages of encouragement.

This is a mama and daddy goose with two little goslings. They are scrounging for food on the lawn not yet under water of the abortion center. I think they were sent by God to remind these women that God's design for the family is perfect. The goose mama's tender care and careful protection of her little ones kept me from getting too close for a great picture.  I hoped the message was not lost upon those abortion-minded women intent on destroying their own little ones.

When we walk...or waddle...in obedience to Him, He fills dreary ditches with lakes to swim in, and pours blessings down like rain. The rain will soak the dry ground, and God's spirit will flood thirsty souls with hope and life.

Please pray for our team this morning as we head out to the sidewalks in, yes, more rain. I may have to grow gills for this gig.

John 7:38-39

Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’” Now this he said about the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were to receive, for as yet the Spirit had not been given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.
