Heaven walked right up to me at the gates of Hell, livid, and said, "You are making people feel guilty."
I was all alone on the sidewalks of the abortion center. My entire team was not available so I was doing my best all by myself as the abortion-minded women streamed in to the parking lot.
"Hello. My name is Vicky," I said, as the woman approached me.
"I'm Heaven," she said.
"Are you serious?" I asked.
She nodded.
(I know. Incredible. I am not making this up. This is a TRUE story.)
"Do you believe in heaven?" I said.
"Yes."
"Will you be going there?" I asked.
"Yes."
"Why? What gets you into heaven?"
"I try to do good things."
"The Bible says all our good works are as filthy rags to God. Did you know that?"
She shook her head. "Maybe it does; I mean, everyone sins."
"That's true. For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God and the penalty for sin is death. If you are counting on your good works to get you into heaven, you are doomed."
She looked worried. "But if you repent, and have faith in God..."
"That's getting closer!" I said, and she brightened. "The Bible tells us how to get in to heaven and it is not by what we do."
"What is it then?"
"It says that if we believe in our heart that Jesus died for our sin and confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe that He rose from the dead, then we are saved. Do you know what it means for Jesus to be Lord of our lives?"
She waited.
"What does God think of aborting human babies?" I asked.
"He thinks it is wrong, probably."
"So if you know that, and you abort anyway, is Jesus really Lord of your life?"
"No... but the abortion is not for me. It is for my friend, and you are making her feel worse about herself. You are judging and the Bible says don't judge."
"It says to judge rightly," I told her. "Let me ask you, if you saw a two-year-old being beaten to a bloody pulp by her mother, would you try to stop her."
"Yes."
"Why?"
"To protect the child."
"You are making a judgment," I said, "A right one, by the way. We all judge every day, constantly. Should that mother feel bad about beating up her two-year-old?"
"Yes."
"Good, you again have judged rightly. And you have a responsibility to stop that abuse which you recognized. There is no difference in God's eyes between the unborn baby being led to the slaughter and that two-year-old being beaten by her mother. We could not make anyone feel bad if what they were doing was good. But it is not good for a mother to kill her own child."
In the end, Heaven took our literature to show her abortion-minded friend. I don't know if that woman chose life or not. What I do know is that God has an exquisite sense of humor bringing Heaven to me at the gates of Hell.
