They Hear You. An Encouragement

The director of Cities4Life, Daniel, and I will be presenting at a conference run by Love-life Charlotte in a couple of weeks. We will be doing a “breakout session” about sidewalk counseling in front of the abortion clinic. I asked if one of the women I work with who chose life over abortion could be there…and we could “interview” her. He liked that idea, so I asked a woman who I have now followed almost three years. (Her daughter is two-years-old now.) 

I sent the list of questions to the woman so she could think about her responses, and asked if there were any others she thought we should ask. She said yes, there was one. That question: do you think the continual pleading to the women at the abortion center is harassment?

Well. I was grieved as I read this. I wrote to her, and said it was a good question…how would she answer it? I also wrote to Daniel and said the only skill I have is PERSISTENCE….what if it is perceived as harassment? He had a great response, and wrote back that if he was a baby in the womb about to be killed, he would want someone to be persistent in speaking on the baby’s behalf. Then I received the woman’s response to her own question. Here it is:

Please! Please! The persistence is very much needed., in my case. I heard them while walking in, walking beside me, giving me scriptures, and even while I was inside, their voices resonated even deeper within my soul. You may feel like you are not getting through to the women or men but we hear you, we hear you, we hear you! In my case I didn't make the decision until I was inside and the scriptures and smiles I had seen outside along with the continued voices while I was inside touched my heart and I chose life! So please don't get discouraged if you feel they aren't listening ... we hear you! 

All you who labor on the front-lines of the pro-life movement: take heart. Be encouraged. They hear you. Not all will act upon the truths you speak, but they hear you.
