Offering One Last Chance at Life

New Volunteer Kevin who braves the craziness of Saturday to minister at the sidewalks of the abortion center
I have often worked every weekday at the abortion center, joyfully submitting to whatever God wants to bring my way as a sidewalk counselor to abortion-minded women. However, I never go on Saturdays. For one thing, while immensely rewarding, this is a draining ministry as well. Watching babies by the dozens being slaughtered each day can take a toll on one's emotional reserves and I need my weekends to kayak and reconnect with the restorative nature I so love.

For another thing, Saturdays are CRAZY. The pro-choice crowd is out in droves, as well as pro-life folks from Cities4Life and a host of other ministries. It is not unusual on a Saturday for six police vehicles to be there as well. It is noisy, chaotic, and exhausting. It takes a special person to minister on Saturday.

Kevin is one of those people. He is a new volunteer and I don't know him well at all so cannot give my personal insights to his character. What I do know is he has a heart for the unborn and wants to speak for them despite the madness of Saturdays. We have had a huge influx of volunteers, and it warms my heart and gives me hope for the future that so many, like Kevin, are young and are fighting to end abortion through changing the hearts of the women one by one.

Kevin's testimony of why he comes to the abortion ministry:

Hi, my name is Kevin. I first came to the abortion center with a group from our church. During that time I was deeply impacted with the reality of the situation and wanted to come back and help again.
I am coming to the abortion center ministry because I believe every life is precious to God, whether
born or unborn. As it says in Pro. 31:8-9 "Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves;
ensure justice for those being crushed. Yes, speak up for the poor and helpless, and see that they get justice."(NLT).

I want to help be a voice for these precious babies that can't speak for themselves. I stand outside the abortion center to show God's love and help, to offer one last chance for life.
*******
Kevin's last line echoes in my soul. One last chance at life. The volunteers who endure taunts, threats, terrible heat and cold, and the chaos of protesters opposing them do so because this is IT for those babies. This is the last precipice from which that unborn child will be rescued...or die.

"Who will go for me?" the Lord beckons.
"Here am I," Kevin responds, "Send me."

Do not repay evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary, bless, for to this you were called, that you may obtain a blessing.
