Revelations From God

I found time to kayak between threat of rain for my birthday weekend

What a wonderful birthday weekend! I have been so busy lately with my Cities4Life responsibilities that I have kayaked little, nor found much time to bicycle. This weekend however, I spent many hours in my kayak, had dinner with my beloved daughter and son-in-law, biked to lunch with hubby yesterday, and even wrote two new chapters on the book I am working on. It felt good to reconnect with nature, loved ones, and with my creative side.

I kayaked early in the day to be sure I beat the thunderstorms that were forecast. The river is always a peaceful place for me (except in a thunderstorm) and always is a time for chatting with God. I have been working my way through the book of Ezekial, which is a confusing and frankly STRANGE book. However, this time, I was reading about the intricacies of the tabernacle in all its impossible detail when something jumped out of the Bible and struck me as it never had in my many readings of the book before.

Ezekiel 46:9 When the people of the land come before the LORD at the appointed festivals, whoever enters by the north gate to worship is to go out the south gate; and whoever enters by the south gate is to go out the north gate. No one is to return through the gate by which they entered, but each is to go out the opposite gate.

This stopped me in my tracks. The people who worshipped God in the tabernacle were to enter by one gate, and NO ONE was to return through the gate by which they entered. I was awestruck when I read that!

Now maybe this is just to prevent traffic jams. Following these instructions, people coming to worship would not collide with people leaving from worship. However, it is an odd requirement for the Bible writer to mention. Nearly every action in the Bible has a physical and a spiritual component. I could be totally wrong on this, but believe there is a deeper more important message than just crowd control.

I thought back to my own thirty years walking with God. I am NOT the same person I was when I first entered into a relationship with Christ. I cannot begin to describe all the changes which are at a very deep soul level. But what I can tell you is if I were to leave the daily time spent with God the same way, as the same unchanged person as when I entered, then I am MISSING what God most wants of me.

2 Corinthians 3:18 says:
And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.

We are to be transformed over time into the same image of Christ as we behold. We are to become more like Him.

We are not to enter the same way we exit.

I rocked on the gentle swells of the river exhalting in this revelation.
